Psychological Testing
Psychological testing is provided at
New Oakland Child-Adolescent and Family Center in one of
two forms: (1) with a testing
psychologist via the Face to Face Day Program; or (2)
with a testing psychologist on an individualized prescriptive
outpatient basis. In either instance, Psychological testing
is prescribed based on medical necessity by the Executive
Medical Director, treating psychiatrists or as recommended
by the assigned clinical therapist.
In certain instances
a child-adolescent will not meet medical criteria for
psychological testing/evaluation. If a child-adolescent
has been tested within the past year, future testing may
be inappropriate based on validity and bias. In these
instances, the testing psychologist in conjunction with the
treating
psychiatrist and/or Executive Medical Director will request
any previous testing results for use with future treatment
planning.
In all instances the treating psychiatrist and/or
the Executive Medical Director works with the psychologist
to identify the psychological battery of tests to be completed.
Once testing has been completed,
a Psychological Notification form will be provided to you.
At that time, you can request
to schedule a meeting with the psychologist to review the
findings of the testing. Additionally, a copy of the psychological
report or at least a preliminary synopsis of the testing
findings will be provided to the treating psychiatrist
and/or the Executive Medical Director and treating clinician
for
treatment planning. During review of the testing, you may
request a copy of the report if proper authorization is
obtained. Thereafter, the testing psychologist will set a
formal in-person meet with the client and/or parent/guardian.
